This notice explains how OtherShelf uses the information you share while the bookshop is in pre-launch.

What we collect

For the reader waitlist, we collect your email address, optional first name, reading interests and discovery preferences. For author expressions of interest, we collect the details in that form about you, your books and where they are currently available. We also retain consent timestamps, signup timestamps, referral information and campaign parameters.

Why we use it

We use this information to manage the waitlist, assess demand and the potential founding catalogue, improve OtherShelf, measure which outreach works, and contact you where you have explicitly asked us to. We do not enrol you in unrelated marketing.

Our lawful basis

During pre-launch, email contact is based on your consent. We may use aggregated, non-identifying information to understand demand and improve the service. The precise legal bases and retention periods should be reviewed by a qualified UK privacy professional before commercial launch.

Storage and sharing

Data is stored with production infrastructure providers acting on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information. We may share it only with service providers needed to operate this site and send requested confirmations, subject to appropriate contracts and safeguards.

Your choices

You may ask to access, correct or delete your information, or withdraw consent, by emailing info@othershelf.uk. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use advertising cookies. Our current analytics are designed to work without non-essential cookies and record aggregate page and conversion events. If that changes, we will add a consent mechanism before setting non-essential cookies.
